In anticipation of the US release of the 23rd 007 movie, Skyfall, we would like to highlight the lavish Ciragan Palace Kempinski Hotel, where James Bond stays in Istanbul. Whilst trying to avoid spoilers yet still getting a gist for the vibe of the film, we deduced that it might be one Miss Moneypenny who joins James at the hotel. This would come as quite a surprise for those of us who have followed Bond and Moneypenny throughout the many years of their strictly professional, yet innuendo-packed association at MI6. We’ll have to wait just a few more days to find out for ourselves what 007 is playing at when we see Skyfall in theaters November 9th!
The Ciragan Palace Kempinski is a fully loaded, five star property worthy of espionage royalty like Bond, as well as legitimate dignitaries, princesses and celebrities. It is the crème de la crème of the European coast of the Bosphorous, an Ottoman palace dating back to the 1860s.
James Bond would surely utilize the glamorous transfer services that the hotel provides its guests. From limo to speed boat to helicopter pick-up, the swankiest spy in Europe demands the swankiest of grand entrances. We’ve noticed that in the last several Bond films, Agent 007 has developed a penchant for refreshing dips (followed, of course, by slo-mo exits from the water that further emphasize his undeniable studliness), so we hope that James will utilize the gorgeous heated infinity pool that overlooks the mega yachts and azure waters of the Bosphorous.
No room would suffice for such a discerning traveler as Bond, save for the Sultan Suite. Ringing up to just over $15,000 per night, it’s richly appointed to the standard of the likes of Prince Charles, Elizabeth Hurley and Giorgio Armani as well. The digs are adorned from ceiling to floor, from sumptuous window trimmings, glittering chandeliers and gleaming parquet floors to a plush “Sultan-size” bed and romantic gilded steam room, complete with rain shower.
For those of us who haven’t quite earned “Double 0” status yet, Excellent Hotels offers much more reasonable rates on rooms at the Kempinski that are just as beautifully outfitted as the Suite. Check out the Kempinski and other luxury hotels in Istanbul at ExcellentHotels.com.
